About Persuasion Podcast
Synopsis
Anne Elliot, daughter of the snobbish Sir Walter Elliot, is a woman of deep feelings who is always forced to put everyone before herself. When she was nineteen, she fell in love with, and was engaged to, naval officer, the fearless and headstrong Captain Wentworth. The young man had no fortune, and Anne allowed herself to be persuaded to give him up.
Eight years later, Anne feels differently about how easily persuaded she was. In a cruel twist, Wentworth has returned to the neighbourhood, a rich man and still unwed. Anne has to watch as he appears indifferent to her and charming to the eligible young ladies of the neighbourhood. Her aching and dutiful heart is caught between her living with her past choices, longing for the love she has lost and the unhappiness of being with her shallow, upper-class family.
Touchingly and wittily told in a masterpiece that is also one of the most entrancing novels in the English language.
About the adaption
Each episode will feature 2-3 chapters and transport you to 19th century England to immerse you in the life, loves and longings of Anne Elliot.
Persuasion is the last novel completed by Jane Austen. It was published along with Northanger Abbey at the end of 1817, six months after her death. Of all of Jane Austen’s great and delightful novels, Persuasion is widely regarded as the most moving. It is the story of a second chance.
In Persuasion, some character dialogue was written in the third person, so easily converted to the first person for the podcast; meaning Liana’s adaptation is very faithful to the novel. Thank you Pride and Prejudice fans for letting us know that you love and want to hear this classic story. We hope you once again enjoy being transported to Austen’s world.

Words from our fans
"Love it! Episode day is always my favorite! You guys do such an amazing job with each one! Thank you!"
"I am LOVING this podcast! I was on tenterhooks waiting for it since listening to Pride and Prejudice during the pandemic. I’ve been enjoying each episode as they come out, but episode 6 with the incident at Lyme is just exquisite, so I had to come write a review. The unobtrusive music and the clever background sounds scaffold a magnificent cast and of course some of the best prose in the English language. What a delight. I know this was a long labor of love, but I hope they do more. Emma, anyone????"
Gefremede
"Loving listening to the adventures of Anne and Frederick. Terrific actors make the story come to life. But the outros and bloopers are fab. They never fail to make me laugh. Thank you for all the hard work. Producing these episodes must take a huge amount of time and effort."

Podcast Production Vlog Week 1
Production Vlog Week 1. This week Liana and Sarah worked to build the cinematic soundscape. They explored the types of musical and scene sounds they will build with the audio team. They reflected on the work of composer Jo Hisaishi to inspire ideas for their opening chapter and the Elliot Theme.
Podcast Production Vlog Week 2
We made some new music. Ate great snacks and exhausted our brains. Liana got on the piano a little more and Sarah fine-tuned last week’s work.
Podcast Production Vlog Week 4
This week while making #PersuasionPodcast, Sarah and Liana looked at soundscapes as well as music and Sarah introduced Liana to a sound library she had found. During her showcase a little miracle occurred and they found the perfect sound for a very specific clock that is mentioned in Chapter 15 of the podcast.
