After 28 premiership-free years and with the town on the decline, Gilgerie Football Club President, Wally Carlisle, has the solution. He sacks coach Silic Hunt and brings in the great Shark Bateman, the man who once kicked four goals in time on to win an AFL Premiership.

But Shark is not the man he once was. The path to a Premiership is not smooth and all the bluster of Wally and self-confidence of Shark begin to look hollow.

Shark has to face the inevitable and Shark's wife, Barbie, is left to pick up the pieces. Billy Glass is heading for the big league and, who knows, a career just like Shark's.

There is no time on now and Nine Times, who's been the club's trainer forever, begins to tidy up for another year, another coach, another dream.
