BNT Awarded Significant Grant

09 May 2023

We're excited to announce we have received notice that our 2023 Season will get very welcomed support through a monetary grant from the City of Ballarat.

It is the fourth grant Liana, our President, has submitted for BNT this year and the first to be successful. She previously put in three unsuccessful grant applications for our production of Dust and Ruin, so we are delighted to have had a positive outcome for this one, which will benefit several productions over the coming year.

Our productions provide opportunities for volunteers to take on crew and performance roles, and to develop essential skills in directing, acting, stage managing, front-of-house, lighting design, sound design, and set design and construction. This financial support allows us to have a stronger, richer impact on our community because we'll have more ways for volunteers to experience the theatre production process, and higher-quality local theatre experiences for audiences as it will make essential elements of a production, such as venue hire, accessible to us.

By expanding the knowledge base and experiences of our theatre community in Ballarat and offering foundational opportunities for them, Ballarat National Theatre is helping to build a more vibrant and inclusive community for all.

Liana attended the Grant Writing Workshop provided by Ballarat East Neighbourhood House. She believes this session was instrumental in the success of the application and recommends the upcoming workshops to other groups. Find out more here.
