Message from the 2025 President

11 February 2025

I am excited (and nervous)  to formally take on the role of President of BNT for 2025. I have been on the Board for the past 12 months and believe I have a talented and hardworking group of people who will come together to continue the work started by previous Boards. I would like to extend particular thanks to the two previous presidents, Liana Emmerson and Megan Riedl, who have left some very big boots to fill.

My day job is as a production coordinator in the marketing department of a third-level college. In this job I have become very good at juggling. And equally good at carrying on when balls are dropped. I hope to bring this skill to my role as president.

We have an exciting season ahead of us; I am delighted to bring our productions back into the city. And having 2026 submissions early this year will allow us to plan well in advance and give us time and space to fix problems or, even better, try to prevent things going wrong in the first place (see above re: juggling). We also have some ideas on how to increase member engagement outside productions that we hope to put in place in the coming months.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns or questions. I love chatting to old friends and meeting new people.

Gin O'Brien, 2025 BNT President
