The rest of the season will include two original works, starting with The Death of Ellen Moore, written and directed by Jon Amesbury. This award-winning one-act play deals with the psychological and emotional impact of death for the individual and for the family who are left behind. We are currently working on a June/July staging.
The second original work will be the first staging of Something Borrowed, Something Blue, written by Hayli Thomson and directed by Laura Hudson, in the theme of the 170th anniversary of the Eureka rebellion in December of 2024.
We will also have a renowned Irish play by Brian Friel, Dancing at Lughnasa, directed by Mary-Rose McLaren. This exploration of identity and how our community shapes us will be a collaboration with the Ballarat Irish Association and we would aim to stage it around September.
We are also looking at a framework to develop two new works that were proposed into complete works that can be submitted to later seasons for consideration with BNT or other companies. We do not currently consider works that have not been completed for our seasons and felt that this could be an option to offer for incomplete submissions. We will be working with the members developing these works to build a useful structure around this idea in the hope we can offer it for other unwritten proposals in the future.
